Humm. An automatic startup throttle? That indeed sounds like a cool idea!

I would love to have that feature for openMSX too, BTW. It would help a lot to speed up debugging sessions. Smile

All openMSX tcl scripts in my projects contain:

set throttle off
after time 12 "set throttle on"

Time varies if it's a DOS or ROM project though, and per machine and based on extensions plugged in as well, so I don't think you can make it universal, the time needs to be user-specified.

But how:

- Can I make openMSX run custom TCL scripts from the command line?
- Can this configuration be made to survive a hard-reset? It seems to affect only the first boot of the emulated machine

1. Check openmsx -help... there's a -script parameter for running scripts when booting. You can also put it in the share/scripts folder and it will be automatically executed.
2. For that you need to make it more fancy and use the debug command to detect a reset (e.g. a breakpoint on address 0?) and such.

Back to WebMSX...

Well, having an automatic startup throttle is a nice idea!
But that was not what tfh was asking. He wanted a "CPU Turbo ON at startup" option, as in "CPU Turbo ON by default", so he can offer Turbo-capable games in his page, not just a "faster startup"... :-)

Indeed... And it's working fine now! :-)

I would love to see support for setting variables for cartridges and disks in php, so I'm able to load content into webmsx from server end without revealing actual path.
Setting the path to file in js is client side, so I'm unable to "protect" the files for now. Since the idea is to load and play the software, not to download the software.

You'll still have the problem that WebMSX features a Savestate option, so ripping the gamedata won't be that hard...

That's why it would be nice to set the vars in php and disable such features like the savestate to avoid ripping of the gamedata.
