Thanks, gfx! I've directed this info to Hubz, along with the file. You can now remove that link.

I wonder what this untranslated text might be. I do know that there's some leftover data in the game, like the Key-2 item, which can only be added to your inventory through a password use. The item itself does nothing and only wastes your precious inventory space.

Since we're talking about fixes here, would there be any way to force-enable CAPS LOCK during password input (and that part only, as players still might need lowercase characters for their names)? For some reason you can type passwords in lowercase characters, despite the fact that the game only ever uses uppercase characters for its passwords.

So... could anyone change the way how START and CONTINUE options act in the title screen?

Heheh. That reminds me: when entering your name, you can't actually hold shift to type a capital letter, since shift counts as button B and cancels you out of the password screen! Wink If you want to write a name that includes both capital and lowercase, you have to press Caps Lock to type the capital letter(s), then turn it off to type the lowercase letter(s).

Don't think there's any real way around that, though, without altering what keystroke counts as button B...

I guess back then people only used Caps Lock to type uppercase letters. Wink

To fix the texts you must probably replace all A0h by 20h for the spaces.
A few other characters must be replaced too because the non-Japanese MSX have a different font.
You can base on the international or european fonts taking into account the Japanese font.

There is actually better looking font already in ROM offset #1E8C0

Oh no! Is that the font used for the ending credits? If so, then... I'm to blame for our fan-translation not making use of that! Wink MP83 wanted to, but I didn't like how some of the letters looked (M and W both look like H with the middle bar either lowered or raised very slightly, and periods are raised conspicuously high, becoming almost indistinguishable from the Japanese raised dot character), so I vetoed it, and suggested we just stick with the default system font.

Guess that decision's come back to bite me! Heheh.

Yes, that is what they were used for... I agree it is not a "perfect font" and it could be easily improved, but anyway I think it is perfectly readable. Although there is nothing exactly wrong with MSX default font, it is just so boring after seeing it used in hundreds of games, BASIC programs & applications. Today I would probably consider anything better than that just because it gives at least a bit of original look. Smile

Yeah, what NYYRIKKI said.

Here's the font that he's referring to and what I originally wanted to include in the translation too:

If we're going to use that thick font in the next version of the patch, along with other fixes, we could rename some of the items to avoid the confusion between letters W, H and M:

Here's a gift. I fixed the font for you. Smile

- W, M and H are clearly distinguishable
- Q was adjusted to make it more distinguishable from zero
- Dot, colon and comma are positioned lower
- Question mark was adjusted to fit the rest of the design

While we're at it, why not also change the N:

Oh, hey! That's really nice! That definitely fixes all the problems I had, and then some!

You guys are very cool! Thanks! Wink
