From Mr.Nishi on Twitter : (show a MSX3 Cartridge for MSX but project was a REAL MSX with keyboard for user which have not MSX anymore at home and download system for software.
Translation approx. from Japanese
"we will have at least three products in 2022 on Amazon.
1 msx engine 3 for oem and hobby system builders.
2 msx 3 keyboard type (PRO and light)
3 msx 3 IOT cartridge for msx1, msx2, or stand alone use."
"2 outputs
old msx analog connecter within the spec of each screen mode or scroll screen. audio is mono channel.
hdmi connecter on cartridge for full video and stereo audio outputs."
"With silicon disc You can download games or dump them into a library."

There's a lot of discussion about the audio and video capabilities of the MSX3 but I'm honestly really curious and excited about the whole "IoT" thing. I didn't get what Nishi meant by that at first but there have been a few posts lately like this where he mentions "grove" or "grove connectors." Between the name and the pictures is it safe to say he's talking about this from Seeed? Looks like an easy way to hook different components up without worrying about soldering or designing a PCB. While it's geared towards IoT/home automation stuff, those sensors like gryoscopes and speech sensors could have interesting uses in games and who knows what else. A big part of the fun of MSX for me is the extensibility and this seems like a cool step forward for that.

I just hope that 600 euro price tag ends up being the maximum price for a pro model keyboard type and that we can get our hands on a bare MSX3 engine or cartridge cheaper! But either way these are exciting times :)

Tongue
Apart from the fabulous 80s; Since the end of MSX (commercially) in the mid 90's, this is the most exciting time for MSX fans around the world.
The native country and the designer of the MSX will create a new MSX!
I am 100% sure to buy.
Rather a complete system (Keyboard Pro or what will be available mini Tower, tower we will see). The idea of the download system is excellent because I know several MSX fans who want to come back to the MSX world but no longer have a computer or MSX software.
I just wonder who is going to build these devices in Japan. And above all, will it be commercially viable for them! Right now, for 2 years, these are not very happy times. Lots of restrictions. So this project of new MSX for 2022/23 is an immense joy and an excitement that will help us.
I wonder if there will be new games from known publishers.

It is not only necessary to be passionate or interested but also to buy this hardware.
The more there are sales, the more we will have other hardware and software.
So excited to have a new complete MSX (whether it's all integrated like the MSX2+ or separate keyboard (Tower)).
I think with HDMI to connect to TV?
For me the main thing is MSX compatibility from 1 to Turbo-R and an internet download system (even paid ok) for games and software.
I wonder if this new MSX will have internet access (What software like Chrome?) and if we can have basic PC software (like Word for example).
I use my PC so little (private administrative only) that perhaps this MSX could replace my PC.

If you expect this, you may be disappointed. This new machine seems to be especialy made for IoT/home automation stuff. The MSXVR looks more like a MSX compared to the Mr. Nishi's "MSX3".

If the price tag of the standalone is really +600E nobody will buy it for IoT. It will end up selling few hundred/thousand units to hardcore old school MSX enthusiasts. The cartridge for MSX will be much more interesting, if they price it reasonably.

I remember in the 2000s at the presentation in Tilburg, Nishi already talked about a future vision of having “1 chip MSX” in fridges, etc. So the IoT thing is a concept that he’s had in mind for a long time, I think.

Yes, indeed, Grauw, but I think he already had that in mind in the early 80's. The whole MSX concept was already supposed to be using VLSI and being used inside other devices. But that didn't quite take off at the time. I think Mr Nishi has a very sharp eye for the future.
