Sorry for being late - I'd like to use my turn.

Q:
Both Russian Yamaha MSX (YIS503IIR) and Yamaha MSX2 (YIS503IIIR and YIS805/128R) have network modules, but they are very different.
What's the difference between greeting message shown on MSX and MSX2 below the MSX Basic version line ?

I permit you to google the answer, because these computers are almost unknown outside of ex-USSR
(just as NL MSX clubs and magazines are unknow for me)

I just saw one week ago... (but I still needed google) Smile

I think it says "Classroom Network version 3.0 No.1"

Hmm... I think it is my turn, so here we go:

In MSX tR A1GT there is SRAM disk... What 14 byte ASCII string is used to check on boot that SRAM is ok and does not need forced initialization aka "format"?

NYYRIKKI,

You are right - MSX2 network shows "Classroom Network version 3.0 No." with the number of workstation (0 to 15, where 0 stands for teacher and other for students) and it works in background.

MSX1 network uses (blocking) RUN"COM:" command on the receiving machines to transfer files, and every time you reboot MSX it automatically executes this command (and you have to CTRL+STOP it to start working on your own). So this RUN"COM:" is the line shown right below Basic version string. (BTW, it is also mapped to one of F keys, and pressing it by accident erases your Basic program immediately. What a poor design !)

And that's the difference between Yamaha MSX1 and MSX2 networks greeting.

And now let's go back to your question about this mysterious SRAM sting...

I didn't read the question well enough, so my answer was not accurate... Please ignore my question, I think it is manuel turn now...

I just started to think that this question might be targeted to too small audience and may hang the quiz...

I will add another question that anyone can start to figure out... Answering correctly to EITHER of my questions will give a turn to you.

So, here it goes... Alternative question:

If you type SET PASSWORD ("##") on MSX2, MSX2+ or MSX tR what MSX sound extension name can be used to bypass password question?
