I'm certainly interested, though my software skills are better than my hardware skills.

I will tell you this. I have tons of ideas for new hardware ideas for videogames, electronics, etc, etc, etc...
I barely have the time or the love or respect anymore to do this. I am currently working ( as in I have the motive in mind )
on my videogame I hope to achieve respectable status. Been working on it since 2005, but I have other projects as well.

So here is an idea. They have the retro-bit for the SNES. It runs the GBA hardware. But guess what? It runs the hardware poorly so fast moving games like "Sonic" are not able to run smooth as they should. Only slow moving games. That fact alone is what is preventing me from purchasing this great product. Then there is the video out problem.

So why don't we make an MSX on an SNES/SFC. It could be backwards compatible and load MSX games cartridges on the fly. It would have an external out for an mini Floppy drive ( however that works ) or that feature could be included later.
I could just picture it right now. Playing Hudson Bee-card catcher on an SNES unit. While in reality I am playing an MSX unit running on an SNES.

The only problem would be the speed issues as with the GBA catcher. The "MSX catcher" would be on the Genesis/SNES/Sega Saturn ( because that is what the memory slot is really for cartridge games ). PSX model II ( that is what that extra slot is for ) Gamecube Model 1 ( because the Wii is really an upgrade for the Gamecube Model 1 ). the MSX catcher could even be built to run on an NES, 5200, or even SMS. I know the Mark III is really pushing it but they are both the same processor from my reckoning.

If I did not mention it already, I have tons of ideas. One of them was an Phantasy Starish type Street Fighter RPG for the MSX but IDK anymore about the platform at the moment. My current want is an shooter type game that everybody could pick up and play with or without most hardware needs.

As I was saying MSX catcher on the SNES. If somebody could build an pathetic and poorly able GBA catcher they could build an greater MSX catcher on the SNES. I say catcher as in UFO catcher, since I had this dream about an UFO catcher where you could win games instead of dolls, considering the catcher would probably have to scar the boxes or games themselves to pick them up properly.

The idea behind a homebrew forum is to get people, novices, intermediate, experts etc into designing/building hardware a sort of 'All' welcome site to swap ideas, exchange schematics, discuss problems and other stuff...well you get the idea !

The theory being the more people doing hardware the more hardware will be made so helping to keep the MSX alive !

Don't get me wrong, but what's the difference between this homebrew forum and this very forum we are talking here on msx.org? Or maybe the msxvillage forum? (ok, the latter is a french spoken forum and I can't speak french!)

IMHO, the most important thing now is that we are talking openly about these issues as never before, I mean how a supposed new MSX should be, etc... I think that finally we broke some barrier although this is just the beginning...

Hi.

I'd spotted (some time ago) these homebrew kits on ebay.com, for homebrew micro designers ? Has anyone bought one are they OK to deal with etc . I'm assuming these are PULLs so do all the ICs work..? I just want some feedback from anyone that might of bought one before buying.
