I'm in the UK, but it's probably best not to say wherabouts. I doubt there would be any fairs featuring MSX in the UK, because MSX was never popular here. It seems that retro computer fairs are mainly in northern England and the Midlands, anyway. It would be good if some of us got together and attended one of the MSX fairs or parties in the Netherlands, though. I lost my Yamaha CX5M Music Computer when I didn't manage to move it out of my first flat, but I had been discouraged from using it years before that, because guitars were somehow back "in", plus the Yamaha and DMS1 software looked dated anyway. I used it mainly to compose music. I've recently installed the MSX emulators GAMOPAT (incl. openmsx) on my Raspberry Pi, as well as openmsx on a desktop PC, which allow me to experience the power of MSX2, although it was never released in the UK. Unfortunately, I haven't owned an MSX computer for some years now. I've been trying to buy an MSX2 computer from the Dutch, Italian, and Spanish eBay sites, as well as www.maarktplaats.nl , but I don't seem to be able to afford one. I need to tidy up my flat and throw out some stuff I've been hoarding. This includes a salvaged desktop PC that won't even turn on, as well as a salvaged laptop I only picked up off the street because I wanted to find out about laptop repairs, but this taught me that the internal parts weren't as described in a book I'd read. It's best not to clutter my flat up with MSX floppy disks or cartridges, though, so I'd like to buy or make a device that stores ROM and disk images on SD cards.

Hey,cx5mer- check out the thread that fernando links above. It may interest you. Also check out the msx cartridge shop and take a look at the mega flash rom.

Valkyre, I've checked but it doesn't seem all that interesting except that someone on a Facebook MSX group is selling 7 MSX computers from a minimum price of є50, but these are MSX1 as well as MSX2 computers, so I'd probably just end up with an MSX1 computer and no storage except cassette. I've seen an MSX2 on offer somewhere (i.e. I don't want any of you to buy it) with an external disk drive and a minimum bid of є25, but I don't know what the final price will be. I don't currently own any MSX computer. I've only got my openmsx installations on my Raspberry Pi and an old desktop PC. I think it's safe to mention that I live in or near London. This means we could hold an MSX fair in London, but only me, Simon, Fernando and possibly djh1697 are likely to be there. Perhaps Fernando owns an MSX2 he bought in Spain, Latin America, or even the Netherlands. I studied MSX BASIC 1.0 a lot, but I don't know if any of you did. I read MSX Computing and MSX User magazines. Before getting my Yamaha CX5M Music Computer MSX, I wrote and tested a program in a shop which redefined lots of characters on UK spec MSX computers as Japanese katakana characters, so that people could write software in Japanese without having a Japanese spec MSX computer. I sent this to MSX Computing and got a phone call from the Editor Hazel James, but she said they couldn't use it. I'm currently studying MSX BASIC 2.0 so I can find out what I've missed out on.

Valkyre, I'm afraid that searching for MSX computer bas and .nl doesn't bring up anything like that, so you'll have to give me more details. I seem to remember bookmarking a site like that, but there's no sign of it now. I searched for buy MSX computer .nl and found http://www.bas-ditta.info/verkoopenlinks/hardware%20engels.htm so is that the one you mean? It doesn't mention on that page how much the postage and packing, or shipping would be, though. Of course, I must remember that I've already got two emulators set up and that I need to go out on 25-10-14 more than I need to buy an MSX2 computer!

Grauw, I assume you mean I've found the right site, but I wanted Valkyre to reply. As for fairs, I think I read somewhere on here that there's an MSX fair in Nijmegen during late January 2015, so perhaps a few of us could get together and go over there. I could be a tourist courier for the trip.
