Ok, this is an odd topic that needs some explanation. I would like to know which MSX fair of the past was the coolest MSX fair ever to you, and why.

To me it would probably be Zandvoor 1992, probably the first fair I visited, with Flying Bytes, releasing MEG, on which one of my songs could be found. As the song seemed to stimulate sales it was played the whole day, annoying our surrounding standholders (I think they never recovered). But apart from the FB stand it was amazing to see so many MSX users, so many new MSX developments and seeing the big MSX Gurus (Wammes Witkop and Frank H. Druijff) in action. For an 11 year-old, it's an experience never to forget Wink Although I have a lot of good memories to a lot of other fairs as well, this one is probably still the best.

Wow, that's funny! To me it's also Zandvoort 1992... We released Bozo back then Smile I was 13 years old I believe. Fantastic feeling to be on a fair at your own booth at that age Smile

Dunno which year it was, but for me it was in Zandvoort as well, first fair I ever went to. It was the 3rd Zandvoort fair held... in the Van Pageehal. I should've entered that Quarth contest that was going on back then. Wink

The long line of people walking from NS station Zandvoort all the way to the hall... was a very memorable moment.

Strange enough every time the Zandvoort fair was held, that days had always very nice weather... I don't know how Jaap managed to get that, but it always turned out to be on such nice days. Same goes with Laurens now doing the Bussum fair.

Meits, help me...

That was quite an amazing day as well, but to be honest, apart from the Nishi lecture the fair had very little to offer compared to other MSX fairs. Even on fairs that were held after 2001. Tilburg 2002, Oss 2003, Oss 2004, Bussum 2003 and Bussum 2004 had a lot more to offer for the die-hard MSX fan than Tilburg 2001 did. But still, it's Nishi... it's a tough choice Wink

Dunno the year, but it was a Tilburg, with an additional small tent next to the main hall. RMF and Impact were next to eachother in a corner with some flame-heater between. Impact sold musix disk 5, and RMF sold RMF music disc 1.

..and Flying Bytes sold Bananenvla. Impact was very annoyed we sold more copies of Bananenvla than they did of Impact Musicdisk. I think the 'Amazing Fly By demo', part of the Ant demo, was a reaction to this. AFAIK the 'hidden' mirror scroll also had some texts about people ripping off the Impact style by using the same instruments. (Crybabies :P Besides, Latok forced me to do it. 'oh snout, can't you do something more Impact-ish?' he said... ^_^)

I can recall they posting (almost) everywhere to get the attention Nishi would be attending the fair as well.

Of course, there were many -visitors- but the MSX Standholders had little new things to offer (no offense, guyz). That was not the mistake of the CGV (who can be blamed for the lousy 2003 and 2004 fairs, imho) but due to the low activitie of the Dutch MSX Community at the time. Looking at what's going on in 2004 I can only say that we've come a long way...

Isn't everything Latok's fault? Wink
