Hi,

A friend gave me an MSX AX-200, connected it to TV through AV output, got no output, only blackness, there is a signal going to TV but it's blackness, cleaned it, after that connected it through AV and then RF, got the same blackness, only this time it's caps lock is always on which I didn't notice before cleaning, when pressing caps lock again, it won't get off, it stays on. What is the problem in your opinion and what should I check?

Thanks

It’s not the VRAM because the MSX can boot without and CAPS should work then.

So that leaves RAM, ROM, logic ICs, VDP or CPU…

RAM you can normally check by inserting a RAM cartridge, however since this machine seems to have its internal RAM in slot 0 that may not work.

It would if that internal RAM works bad enough that BIOS doesn't see it as RAM. Wink
