Hey! Sorry for my first post here being a blatant spam, but I haven't had much of contact in the MSX world otherwise, so I wouldn't know where to start. I've been writing this retro game comparison blog for the past 2 and a half years, and advertised it to good length at Lemon64, World of Spectrum, LemonAmiga and Atarimania, as well as my personal Facebook page, but since there are some good MSX-related articles in the mix as well, I decided to register and create a new thread here. Perhaps I'll join some of the other discussions later on.
The main page is at frgcb.blogspot.com, and you can find plenty to read from the archives, but I'll throw in a few recommendations for you MSX-folks out there, if you're interested.
In fact, my newest entry is about a Finnish MSX game that you're probably very much aware of - Miner Machine - which is the third entry in my newest series of Finnish Retro Game Reviews. Some MSX-related comparisons worth reading, from the top of my head, are CHUCKIE EGG, THE SNOWMAN, INVASION OF THE ZOMBIE MONSTERS (from the New Game Of The Month series), and THE GOONIES. There's also the long-time running series of Unique Games, which you might be interested in checking, as well as my version of a history of Finnish Games, written over two years ago. Easy access to all material can be found through the Archive page.
If I posted this shameless advertisment in the wrong sub-forum, please feel free to relocate it. ;) And by the way, thanks for having such a great community, makes it relatively easy to do research and write about stuff! B-)
i will check your reviews !
Time for an update here. You might be interested to read this little review I made of the notoriously bad Space Satellite, as it's the only article I know that features screenshots of all three stages and full instructions without any of the embellishments in the original instructions. Have fun!
I'm not a big fan of spamming forums, particularly if I don't visit them frequently, so here's a long overdue update on MSX-related games on my blog since the above.
The most current article is really the reason why I decided to finally log in here - it's a relatively short but deep review of another underwhelming Finnish MSX title, which is at least slightly more playable than Space Satellite. Sampo Suvisaari's Bomulus series concluded with this little quest for the Lost Crown, and from what I've gathered, it was also the only title in the series that featured only English messages. Hopefully, some more Finnish MSX games will surface on the web, otherwise this will have to be the last one I write about.
Before Bomulus and the Lost Crown, I managed to write MSX-related comparisons of CONGO BONGO, FORMULA ONE SIMULATOR, GHOSTBUSTERS and SWIV. Can't remember if any of them are particularly favorable towards the MSX versions, but click on the links and see for yourselves.
