Not sure what I missed, but pressing down while booting indeed landed me in basic. A second attempt to flash the firmware worked successfully and now I can boot it again, but with a warning the fpga and the flash are out of sync:

_netver
Flash: V.0.11 (2020/4/15)
Engine. V.0.12 (2020/7/27)

I hadn't expected this to erase my settings because according to the picture on page 157 in the manual this is stored elsewhere, but going through _netcfg I saw only the defaults. What is the best way to check this?

@Pencioner you're a life saver.

Seems the offline update contains the old 0.11 firmware. Does _netbrowse work in this state? Then you can do an online upgrade to 0.12 firmware.

No, again, _netbrowse allows me to use the sdcard, but not "Internet". Again, with _netsetmap(24) I'm landed in Nextor where I can ping hosts by hostname but hub list doesn't work.

I will update the flash and see if it helps.

You can put the update.bin (I believe it’s called that) on the SD and load it from there. Be sure to use _netfwupdate(3) to flash main image and recreate config area.

If you still have trouble, mail Eugeny and ask for support. There is an option to flash the whole image but I have never used it and am not sure if it is recommended in this case. Eugeny will know.

I'm afraid I'll have to ask Eugeny for help. After updating the flash the two chips are in sync again (V.0.12) but _netbrowse still returns "Device I/O error".

Thanks for the help!
