Hello,

I am actually an Amiga fan and a proud owner of an Amiga 1200T. But i was introduced to MSX via emulation. I started using AmiMSX and was very impressed with the games that were available for this machine. I admit, i never actualler heard of this machine before, i can only guess that it didn't take off in the UK Question After reading about this machine, i have since discovered that it was very popular in Japan and a few Europian countries. The MSX also seems to remind me of the Neo Geo and the PC Engine, very Japanese influenced, which is very good.

Now, i use the Amiga version of fMSX (v2.4), it is a very good emulator on the Amiga. AmiMSX was technically the fastest, but bangs the harware in order to get this speed. So now that i have an upgraded Amiga, i use fMSX (emulating MSX 2 with 2meg), it runs at full speed because i have the accelerator and graphics card to use it, Blizzard PPC 240/[email protected], Blizzardvision. fMSX is also multitasking and compatibility is very high. I play game such as Metal Gear 1 and 2, Pennent 1,2 and 3, SD Snatcher plus many classic MSX 1 games. It also doubles as a Colecovision emulator! Big smile Anyone else here own an Amiga?

Well, next to my MSX machines I also have a ZX-81, but I guess emulating MSX on that one is out of the question Tongue

Wow.. if you had asked this same question on an MSX newsgroup 10 years ago, you would probably not have survived. Since a year or two I have one Amiga500, almost never used it though. Saved it from being thrown away. Wink

MSX was sold in the UK. It never become a popular machine there, though (lots of Spectrums already in the UK market, the "national computer". MSX2 never arrived to the UK). You'll ever find Toshiba HX-10 MSX1s in eBay UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk .

Hey !!!!!

Another Amiga User here, welcome to the world of msx Big smile

I personally own 17 Amiga Computers, I use them for all my daily work .... only for earning money I have to use a PeCe Sad

Only thing I do NOT own is a PPC card for any of my Amiga´s but fMSX runs fast enough even on 040/40Mhz or 060/50Mhz. Tongue

I have an A500 in my museum, bought it on some fleemarket for 5 euros or something Smile I watched Crionics demo 'Hardwired' on it once and never touched it again (I do love that demo, but I emulate it on PC now).

And true, a couple of years ago you would have been killed, now we are just happy with anyone that pays attention to our pathetic interest in an old computer that was obsolete before I could spell the word obsolete.

Pardon the pun Smile it was a reaction I once got and I thought it was hilarious!

It is nice to see people owning Amiga's here despite this being an MSX forum! Smile So ten years ago there were some intense rivalry between these two machines?! I thought it was Atari ST vs Amiga! fMSX is a good emulator but before i got a graphics card i found that sometimes the games graphics became "scrambled" or crashed sometimes under MSX emulation, Colecovision needed to have the FPS changed in order for that to work. But now i have a Blizzardvision, fMSX is working pretty good. Just some of the game versions i get seem to run a little too fast LOL!

Cheers,

I think now is not the time to tell'm about the FAC, eh. grin

I got an amiga AND atari (520) stacked somewhere in the basement... right beside that (now) empty spot where I once dropped my MSX at. But luckily I got my brains together and (atleast) got my beloved MSX computer out of the cold. Still the other computers are suffering from severe cold and lack of attention.

Never used them Amiga and Atari for anything else but watching demos...

There was rivalry in the sence that MSX demo sceners would copy demo effects from the Amiga with a "see? MSX can do this too!" attitude.
Actually Amiga is probably one of the causes the MSX demo scene grew as large as it did in the early 90's...

From the Amiga (or amigaaaarrrghhh as we'd call it) scene point of view, I don't think they even noticed any rivalry ^^; Tongue
