By chance I found this Japanese site where are listed some hidden messages (sector based) of several MSX games like Crimson 2, Feedback, Fray, Illusion City... Does anyone know more games? It would be great if we could translate them properly... ;) An example from Hydlide:

Thank you Manuel, IMHO translate Japanese texts with Google Translate leave much to be desired. Besides If we add the fact that these messages mostly use colloquial expressions... oO

Yes, I forgot that. Also Tecnosoft's Dixdaef has the D'.DOC file with a long Japanese text (13Kb) explaining something related to programming...

Dixdaef is not the right name, it's D'. (Hence the name of that text file.)

There are two inside Herzog (from Tecno Soft) that I saw while digging in the game and I'll never forget. It seems that Mr Y.TOYAMA was a bit disgruntled with his employer:

Quote:

IDIOT is Mr.DEAD FISH(Level 43 hacker)

Quote:

Fuck you to TECNOSOFT!(give me overtime allowance!)

The messages can be found at the offset 13C79h of the game disk.

Well the text about hydlide 1 is about some code for which he gives you a hint (his birthday being 21 september 1965). I tried loading the game with system date set to 21 september but to no (apparent) avail. I looked up if someone already noted what it did, only found that someone had already looked into it for a bit but not solved it: http://tcrf.net/Hydlide_%28MSX%29

So if someone knows what it does, would be nice to know.

Illusion City: Pixie wonders if there is a gogoPixie game on Illusion City. Fray then dispells the notion.

Fray: there is a comment about why (a routine) is called Kazume (AOS).

Ranma 1/2: basically an advert to buy a new cd of Hiroko Kasahara

The texts in Herzog are about him liking fanmail, liking msx, rumours about msx 3, technical difficulties and stuff like that. The extra messages sd_snatcher found are actually triggerable from the game unlike the other texts on that japanese link. In one of those triggerable texts it herzog was partly based on rescue raiders (apple 2 game) and field combat ( a famicom game) if someone finds that interesting.

Feedback: asks not to disclose the text if you find it, but talks about inspiration for the game, technical difficulties and stuff like that.

That hydlide text is probably most interesting because it refers to an actual secret thingy.
