My raycasting demo with robots says that Wolfstain (or something close) on msx Turbo is already doable.
What could be done on a plain msx could be something close to Dungeon Master

The only way to get a good 3D game on a plain MSX2 is to use precalculated graphics. You could make something like a Dungeon RPG where walls and floor positions were precalculated so you could get a nice animation. If you pretend to use Z80 to make 3D calculations you'll get terrible results!

Something like this is easy

but I think one can go even to something close to this:

if its just dungeons (non openspace) 3D on 8bit machines, this Sega Master System Phantasy Star is done very nicely.

This is why I think that even on msx2 it is possible to get animation for movements like in Phantasy Star

Is that 3D game really for MSX. MSX can't make 3D.

I think its a PC remake but do not be mistaken: MSX can do 3D. search for the doom for MSX thread and be amazed.

yes, but not in that large window, and maybe not in solid gfx.

in msx tricks oftern are

1) medium gameplay window. Maybe plus ony even lines rendered.
2) blocky movements in CHAR screen modes, like screen 1 if you want some colours there, and blocky movement. & limited graphics, like 16 differents graphics objects, pre-rendered in 16 different ways (different distances/rotation), the rest is just printing chars. Or here can be great, Screen4 in MSX2, with multi-page all over 64 or 128K, so the rotation can be the page number, view page, so it can have in a unique page all graphics done to be seen in a given rotation angle, and that way increase the ammount of differents objects, only is needed in the same page have the graphics for different distances (4 distances is minimun, 8 is great). what means, but hey, if the cammera is back-up, all the far graphics will fall in the first character set, so there is a opportunity to handle 768 characters per page.
3) Isometrics, no real 3D.
4) Tiny gameplay window.
5) Sprite based mix, no real 3D.

The second one is a very good example of precalculated graphics to made on MSX2.

Wireframe can go so fast on MSX2 thanks to the line drawing support on the VDP.
