My games were all written in MSX-DOS. I don't think I ever needed to do subslot changes, or even slot changes, or use a memory mapper.

In fact, the "universal POKE" is not so universal. It doesn't work in the Victor HC-90, HC-95 and machines of the Sony HB-F500 series. And probably any machine that has its RAM in an expanded slot-0. :)
