This is what I worry about as well, although I have no experience in the business. I would definitely go for a print on demand option. For those who want this, price is going to be the least of their worries. And of course we (all of us in this thread so far, but I am sure there will be more Wink) would all love this in a hardcover by the best printer out there. But let's be realistic, we may have to settle for a bit less.. But having this on paper makes more sense than a PDF (at least to me)... a PDF with the paper copy would be great though.

I don't know what the best on-demand printer/distributor is out there. I would still say at least Amazon has a great sales and supply network out there so shipping to the world is not going to have to happen from 1 place, reducing cost on those not in the country of the respective party. Also the availability of the book is pretty much guaranteed, so if someone picks up their hobby in 5 years (when their kids have grown, job has become less demanding, whatever) and find this they still have chance to get a copy and don't have to resort to eBay where some guy is asking $200 for a beat up edition.

Printing on demand sounds great! And I do think that there will be dozens of people interested. I mean, there is not a lot of MSX memorabilia out there and this is about the biggest MSX software company there was: the legendary Konami.

Printing 1,000 books (and making big cost) and waiting for them to be sold, sounds irrealistic.

Using Amazon could also mean reaching countries like Japan. There are many MSX-fans active on Twitter etc. I am sure that they would also love to have an illustrated Konami book.

How about creating a kickstarter? This way, you don't risk losing money if the goal is not met. The problem with gauging interest here is that people will change their mind and it puts too much risk.

I'd be happy to support a kickstarter for this. It would be amazing to have this in a high quality printed format. It is perfectly fine to make money off of this btw, you put so much time and effort into it.

I've just done a temporary calculation on createspace. Part 1 of the book would cost 45.20 euro. That is A LOT of money if you ask me. For both volumes you'd have to pay around 90 euro!
