I have heard and used this term since the first MegaFlashRom was developed. Before, it was the MegaSRAM. Even before the "似非RAMセミナー" are organized in Japan to made MegaSRAM using Megarom cartridges. I also saw these terms in Japanese docs translated into French in the 90s (by I do not know who). At that time, few people had internet and I no longer have these docs in French. How could I give you a link?!

I also know that Tsujikawa left the MSX before the 1chipMSX was produced. He left all his creations on MSX in freeware. He married several months later. So there is no need for permission to use his creations.

You should have used a less common term. I find it unfortunate to complain about that. Me, it suits me that we call things by their names. Your MegaFlashRom is a good product and it is popular. This controversy is useless.

@gdx: I guess you are referring for example to this page:

http://www.hat.hi-ho.ne.jp/tujikawa/ese/eseram.html

especially the 「似非RAM製作キット」ができました! section... that refers to Frontline as hardware seller.

AFAIK, I developed the first "MegaFlashROM" based on K. Tsujikawa's work.
http://www.hat.hi-ho.ne.jp/tujikawa/flashrom/flashrom.html
As you can see, he named it as ESE ROM Disk. (似非ROMディスク)

There is no proof of any other similar product named "MegaFlashROM" before.

Your information is quite inaccurate. In fact, Tsujikawa was at my home with his wife years before the release of 1chipMSX.
It is also false that he gave permission to use his creations without previous authorization when 1chipMSX was released (or before)

Before your the MegaFlashROMs were not sold but only made by oneself (DIY) thanks to tsujikawa's tutorial.

No, I misspoke. I do not say after the 1chipMSX but after he left the MSX.

He himself told me.

I don’t know about all of Tsujikawa’s creations, but the 1chipMSX VHDL code that was distributed on the CD along with it was released under the 3-clause BSD open source license.

Still there is no proof of MegaFlashROM name, but ESE ROM Disk.

I don't. He was at my home in 2003 with his wife. He developed MegaSD in 2005-2006. Time later, some users tried to replicate his MegaSD without his authorization and he get a bit upset, and asked them to stop doing so.

Read the previous sentence.
That does not mean that the current situation is different.

Strange because since when I came back to the MSX 6 or 7 years ago, I asked him if the MegaSD was still on sale. He replied that it was never finished, the project continued only for the 1chipMSX without him.

Perhaps the project was not finished, but I own a MegaSD produced by K. Tsujikawa and it works great.

so you put a konami logo on the front and name it after a very well established and great product... so if the MegaFlashRom from the opening topic turns out to be a piece of sh*t guess who's good name is going to suffer. Indeed a person that put a lot of energy and time into developing all the tools we use with the MFR.

I seriously doesn't care who was first at this point (I dont give a flying duck!), Guillian made the product available for everyone and the name MegaFlashrom is easily associated with Guillian's product (which took real money to produce) Imagine that I would make a product genamed gr8net.

So the discussion about who has what and who was first is irrelevant and is just adding noise to the discussion.

Also does it contain a game master as the cover suggests?

That cover makes me wonder if Konami actually approved for use of their logo and artwork for the cartridge.
Since the MegaFlashRom and Konami logo make it suggest it's related to Guilian's product and had Konami as well involved.
