I think you better let sunrise do the upgrade. The 1.0 version upgrade is quite a difficult one and you don't want to kill your precious moonsound 
I also had a 1.0 upgraded by sunrise and they did a great job

My Moonsound was back within 1 month!
Just send a mail to sunrise and they will explain you the possibilities.
If I'm correct you can choose between upgrading to 640kb or upgrading to 1024kb.
I took the 1024kb upgrade and it was +/- 60 euro.
About the long waiting times : mine was also ready within a month, so that's not that bad if you ask me
Mine was back in about 15 minutes, on a fair. That's fast service! 
(From 128kB to 640kB on a v.1.0.)
