I have read many things on this forum about the MSX community. Quite a lot of them are fairly negative. People only give negative feedback - if any - and people from different cultures hardly interact with each other.
I think things really aren't that bad. The MSX Resource Center is trying to be(come) a platform for everyone in the MSX community, and looking at what we accomplished already we can only be positive. We, too, mosty get negative feedback and almost no compliments, but I think that is human nature. People see MSX, it's hardware, software and it's websites as their property and want the best for it. If something happens they don't like, they protect it. Our website statistics and forum activity are more than enough positive feedback already.
We should keep in mind, however that groups like Bandwagon quit MSX because they felt they were not appreciated by the community. It's ok to let people know they did a good job.
About the interaction between several cultures - I think we're doing better than average. Of course there are many people in Japan who have absolutely no clue about what's going on in Europe and vice versa. Same goes for Brazil. But still, the possibilities to interact with MSX users all over the world are there and a growing ammount of people are starting to use them. The MSX Resource Center is working on new features on the website to improve communications between MSX users - especially for developers. (Remember those questions about your skills in the 'My account' menu? )
I started this thread because I am convinced that if you repeat something many times, people will believe it and act like it. If you go to an MSX fair and just say 'ohw god it isn't what it used to be' less people will attend fairs in the end. If you say the MSX community doesn't interact at all, some people will give up interacting. It's about time we give a positive twitch to the MSX community again!
