This is a basic command, if you'r in dos and your dos dsk dosn't contain the format util, than you can do the following. type basic give a return and than call format , follow the instructions on the screen.

re-edit
If you have a dos dsk and it contain the util format.com, than you can type format, this is similair to ms dos

If you see on the screen something like Basic version xx than your in basic , if you see
A:> than you'r in MSX DOS. tape the hole that GuyveR800 have mention, so not the write protect.
Warning.
If you did boot with a dosdisk insert and you give the command format, exchange the dsk before you hit return

If you are in MSX-DOS though, CALL FORMAT won't work. You'd have to type FORMAT A: And indeed, make sure you take out your MSX-DOS disk. My guess is that you're in BASIC though, so in that case you would have to type CALL FORMAT. Make sure the disk you want to format is in the drive. Tape the RIGHT hole, when looking at the label. Then answer the questions that follow. You'll want to choose DRIVE A and DOUBLE SIDED. The best thing to do is buy yourself some DD disks though. HD disks do work, but they tend to be troublesome after a while. Any good office store will still sell them, though sometimes they will cost a bit more than HD disks.

Any question in here seems a good reason for manuel to promote the FAQ Tongue and just like those commercials about borrowing money we have here in .nl the last years it's becoming annoying every now and then. But that's just manuel's second nature. Smile

Thanks a lot... I guess... Sad

You said exactly the same things legacy said in his post, but you said it clearer.

At least that's what I think he means Smile
