Well almost naked! A former UK MSX retailer, who tells me that he has ever UK released MSX computer, plus not sot released in the UK, sent me a photograph, which I have put on the MSX Home computers facebook page. He told me that he is just collecting them. I guess they have a special place in his heart? Johnny Goy Anglo is a nickname I use of FB

Some of the email from Mr Knight

"I still have one of each of the UK machines and one Japanese Sony prototype given to me by Kay Nishi long before the Japanese or Worldwide release. I also have a Toshiba MSX2 and the Philips model with the screen grabber that we sold quite a lot of. These items are not for sale - I am keeping them for old times sake.

MSX was a good idea at the time but when I spoke to Mr Gates at the Hanover Show he said Microsoft had spent too much money on MSX - that is when I realised it was all over and anyway the home computer market had collapsed with huge problems at Acorn, Dragon, Sinclair etc.

It was just a short time later that we all realised it was good old MS-Dos rather than MSX that would be successful and that the market would be IBM compatibles. Today most families have a home computer but it is either based on Apple or Microsoft plus most have a smartphone too..

The World of electronics and communications keeps changing.

I still occasionally hear from Kay Nishi and Yuji Kudo of Hudson Soft (a radio amateur like me)

I am sorry I can't help further. I am amazed that there is still interest in MSX - 37 years later."

Yeah, a few years ago I also had contact with Mr Graham Knight of "Knight's Computers Aberdeen" from back in the day. They were the main MSX distributors in the UK I think.

Knights where a retailer, they imported some Philips and Sony machines from the EEC. They where a large MSX retailer at the time, if not the largest in the UK?

This photo is nothing new and is actually from Nishi's own website. Says, "Gates dived from 10 meters high, Allen 3 meters, me 1.5 meter".
