Wasn't it easier to just dictate the whole thing instead? Smile

uh ... did I say 'organise' ?? Smile

I only suggested a fair somewhere around Zwolle or Amersfoort, in Hoogeveen you can hire a little hall in the Hoogeveen airport (small sportairplanes/parachute diving etc.), but then again, tho it's 5 mins drive from the trainstation (very easy route, no XSW signs needed), that's the only way, since there's no bus going.. (well, you have to reserve a bus which goes 3x a day Smile ) and the Hoogeveen trainstation is no intercity station.. this all leads me to the conclusion that Zwolle or Amersfoort would be a far better place to be.

Tilburg, Oss, it's all a bit far away for most ppl, even for them coming from Schiphol.

However, how much trouble is it to organise a fair? You need a small hall, preferably with a few smaller side-rooms for music-related demo'ing, and plenty of power supply, tables and chairs. Optional luxury is a bar.

... you need contacts so that you can get a CHEAP hall
... you need to contact everyone who'd possibly want a stand on the fair, try to persuade them to get a stand
... you need to keep track of finances
... you need to promote the fair on MSX websites, related websites, magazines, newspapers and local Cable TV stations if possible
... you need to make sure there are enough reasons for people to visit the fair

etc. etc. etc. etc.

That's when you want to organize a real GOOD fair. If you want to organize tilburg, you just wait until people start giving you money and then you're done Tongue Tongue

I agree. There's a difference between organizing a fair, and organizing a good one.

I was not there this year - but from what I read here (or have read even before the fair took place) I am not very surprised...
All you need is somebody or a group that is really willing to organise something - with a bit of motivation and some thought about marketing - I am sure a 'better' MSX fair could be held.

Yeah... You're right 'msxgamesbox' , but it has also something to do with visitors..
That's why the meetings in Limburg(Holland) stopped.. Too less people!!

After Tilburg I drove with MSX Info back home, and discussed about new club-meeting(s) en perhaps also an International Fair...
But... One important thing: Where to get the visitors from!!

No visitors, no Meeting.. Crying Crying

[B.t.w: It was for me the first time in Tilburg.... And it was GREAT!!!!]

Hmm, what can I say.
It's been the first Tilburg for us (well, at least for a very, very veeeeeeery long time).
And we missed the nicest things due to the fact it was not clear that there were other floors..
(I've seen club meetings with even less material than the first floor, so we thought that was it)..
More communication would be nice, bigger signs, maybe a map hand-out at the entrance.

so, I guess my experience doesn't count here, but still my eur .02

and wolf: Tilburg is about as centred in NL than it can be.. if the fair would be in Zwolle/A'foort, people from the south would not come. At least I wouldn't.. I'm not driving 3 hours for one hour fair Tongue Everyone would like to have a fair close to him/her, but that is just not possible, at least not in the current situation, where only a few hardcore people are really active..
