Trying to run Golvellius on MegaFlashRom

Hey, all.

I'm new to these parts and to the world of MSX, as I just recently got a Panasonic FS-A1 MK II and ordered a MegaFlashRom SCC+ 512KB. I've been having a lot of fun with it, but one of the big reasons I wanted this setup was to play Golvellius and Golvellius II - and I can't get either working.

The English Golvellius ROM just won't load. The Golvellius II disk files load, and I hear the proper music playing, but the screen looks like a bunch of noise...multiple horizontal bars of random colors.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing stupidly?

Thanks in advance!

I should note that this is the farthest I've gotten with any attempt at disk loading form MultiMente...most disk booting attempts dump me to MSX-BASIC with a "Syntax Error."

Does the original Japanese Golvellius run properly?

How are you loading/running it exactly?

What do you mean with "won't load"? What is happening exactly?

Posting a video of what you are doing and what is happening will help greatly.

Hello.

Thanks for the response. I managed to get the English Golvellius ROM to run by using the "/U" flag (still not entirely certain what this does, but it worked.)

Still stuck on Golvellius II. I changed the disk names to have the ".FD[#]" extension and hit ENTER on the FD1 file in MM (and verified in the NEXT_DISK file that it loaded all three files.) Booted while holding ESC to bypass the ROM, and here's what comes up:

Again, any other DSK file I try to load doesn't even get this far - usually comes up in MSX-BASIC with a "Syntax Error."

Thanks,

Wanted to follow up because I got an answer from Manuel at the MSX Cartridge Shop:

Quote:

Some DSK games could not work. The DSK emulation is done using Nextor EMUFILE tool.
I have checked Golvellius 2 and works fine on turbo R, but not in the FS-A1 MkII. So there is some incompatibility with that model.
It works using the "old" DSK emulation method.
From MultiMente, press GRAPH on the first disk and select 1)Flash as DSK as disk 1
Then repeat with disk 2 and 2)Flash as disk 2.
This will flash the DSK into the cartridge and will work as a ROM, so the DSKs are not writables.
To skip the DSKs when booting you must hold ESC key.

This worked for me. Still have to figure out how to save my game, though.

Thanks!

You can also try with sofarun. Concat the disks first for that.
