What is a large amount of RAM useful for?

Only thing I can think of is to play a game without loading times (e.g. portraits @ Gazzel) and have long intros with lots of graphics without waiting for loading (so, without interrupting music).

WORP3: As I described above DOS2 supports memory from all slots, just several application programs allocate solely from the primary slot (with B=0). So it depends on the application, if they explicitly chose not to support secondary mappers for reasons of laziness. (DOS1 has no memory mapper support at all.)

I still have to optimize the midi player, maybe i can extend it with a slot support. Although 4MBytes or memory is already a bit overdone for some midi files ;-)

I'm adapting RoboIMF as well, don't want to be accused of laziness Wink

Btw, Worp3 your midi player already works very good on my Midi PAC, great player.

haha, only seeing this now :P

Yeah, I guess there are some things that'll need more RAM, but for the majority of things I want to do, 128k+1024k is plenty.

That's not to say I'd pass up the chance to shove more RAM in my machine, though :3

Thank you very much for the compliment Big smile
But internally the player isn't optimized and could run a lot better on standard msx computers.

It’s for the turboR… if you don’t support slots, the 256K or 512K internal memory is the max.

So you have my encouragement Smile.

I updated RoboIMF to use additional mappers as well (submitted to the download section) and you can get if from here as well...
