What was the reason that you bought an MSX and kept using it ?

I think my parents got the MSX back in 1985 and since then I've been hooked. I think I didn't play much with the MSX between 1995 and 1999 simply because there was not much to play on a un-modified NMS8255 that I didn't play yet.

That changed around 2000 when I discovered IRC #msx and emulators. When I moved to California from the Netherlands I left all my MSX stuff in the Netherlands so I haven't used a real MSX in ages (except dvik's MSX1 and WSX for a few minutes)

So my best alternative is openMSX and that's also the reason why I'm involved in the project for the last 8 or so years.

First experience with MSX was with a White Sharp Hotbit at LionelRichie's place (1987 maybe). Besides some gaming, we started to "hack" the MSX tape "Introdução ao Hotbit" (basic) changing strings and some of the graphics.
Asked my parents for one, they obligated me to make some kind of algorithms training and just after I "graduated" they gave me a black Hotbit (1988).
I think I never played a game until it's end, but I have produced a LOT of crappy stuff in Basic in two years, when I convinced my parents to get me an Amiga 500. On the Amiga I learned how to code in C and ASM. 68k ASM is quite different, but the overall logic and organization of ASM is kind-of-unique. I was able to use it back on the MSX.

The reason for kept using it is basically because 1) it's simple enough to make something fun quick (for example the amazing tenline entries we're seeing) and 2) Reminds me old times, childhood, friends, no responsibilities and etc...
