I have performed some captures of the signals using a logic analyzer.

With the paddle just touching the left side of the game screen the reading is 153 in decimal
With the paddle just touching the right side of the game screen the reading is 307 in decimal

I am considering the "standard size" paddle which is the one that games begin with. With the enlarged paddle the range should be a shorter while the reduced size paddle should provide a wider range.

The problem is that the game Arkanoid games have wide borders and a score bar, so they don't cover the full range of the real paddle.

If a clone is designed to cover just that range, it won't be usable with anything else.

Ok, what I meant to do (but failed miserably, lol) was to show that despite the variances found in the values presented by the paddles of other users, all of them were within the range used by the game Smile

Probably this is not really needed, but I tried TestVaus v2.0 on Yamaha/Sakhr AX-150 with four different paddles today. I sometimes observed more than 30 percent fluctuation in readings, maybe my power supply is bad? Format is [smallest usual largest] for each endpoint

Paddles from Arkanoid 2: (work well in both Arkanoid and [in MSX2 and later] Arkanoid 2 on multiple MSX generations)
Red Vaus #1: [89 101 127] - [330 336 363]
Red Vaus #2: [91 95 107] - [329 331 332]

Paddles from Arkanoid 1: (only work well in Arkanoid on MSX 1)
Black Vaus #1: [115 116 117] - [385 386 387]
Black Vaus #2: [100 109 115] - [328 333 341]

edit: in all cases the same 2 meter Sega-style controller extension cored was used between the port labeled Joystick 1 and the plug on the controller cord. I had to re-solder the port earlier this year and try to avoid frequent detaching/attaching directly to the AX-150

On zemmix neo the same controllers seem to read with slightly lower minimum, slightly higher maximum

On HB-F1XD i get fairly solid readings for the red paddles and nothing for the black ones
Red 1: [92 93 94] - [334 335 336]
Red 2: [90 91 95] - [333 334 340]
Black 1: doesn't work, 511 and doesn't show button presses
Black 2: same as Black 1

On F1XV i get different solid readings from red paddles, nothing reliable from black paddles
Red 1: [90 90 92] - [333 335 336]
Red 2: [89 90 93] - [336 339 340]
Black paddles sometimes show reasonable readings but other times 511 or 000, in both cases with not button sensing

Also note that the two-player simultaneous mode of Arkanoid 2 uses a different range from 1-Player and Arkanoid 1

f1-xv testing indicates approximate 2P "vs friend" range for Arkanoid 2 of 170-300 or so - of course with red paddles (same for both players despite score area being at opposite edge for second side)

edit: ... and approximate Arkanoid 2 non-"vs" range of 148-295 (I'm sure disassembly can find the exact values)

edit 2: ... And Arkanoid 1 with Arkanoid 2 paddles seems around 160-306 or so (comparing with exact values upthread should give an idea of the inaccuracy of my Arkanoid testing)
