Hi,

A bit late, but, anyway... For those who're still interested in this topic, I released my partitioning tool for BEER 202 "officially" on my page. The package also includes the source files. It can be found in "MSX Software by A&L Soft -> Utilities".

Regards,

Adriano

Well, the IDE BIOS hangs with almost all 2,5" notebook drives, the only one I got past to the disk boot was a 20Mb(!) very very very old drive...
Some are detected, but I cant get a boot from floppy...
I have tested more than 10 notebook drives, from 20Mb to 6Gb.

Sorry for resurrecting this very old thread, but I am currently doing a little research on the Beer IDE as I would like to support it in SymbOS.
I wonder if these problems with the harddiscs are hardware or software (Beer IDE Rom) related?
Maybe the reason is, that its BIOS only supports CHS?
SymbOS usually only supports LBA, but CHS is possible, too, as this is only driver related.

PCB-design for BEER IDE thanks to Arnold Metselaar.
Available at http://www.hansotten.com - MSX Whats New

In Eagle format and postscript. Arnold says the design is not tested, so use at your own risk!

As user storhemulen gently pointed out to me there is an error in my design, and it is potentially very damaging.
Pin 2 of the IDE header should be connected to GND (0V) and not to VCC (+5V). Using the design without this correction is very likely to cause a short circuit when a drive is connected to the IDE header.
