Nice feature the .dsk emulation of nextor.
I used it on MFRSCCSD.
It works. After the mounting I reboot msx and it starts from floppy.
Ok.
But how to return on my beloved SD? Everytime I switch on the msx mow it starts frm the emulated dsk !!
ESC button doesn't work.
I used MFRSCCSD without diskrom, it usually starts with the SD as A: disk.
How to use multiple disk?
Any manual for this feature ?
Until now I used to flash the DSK from MM pushing RETURN on a file. How to flash it now that RETURN is used for the disk emulation feature?
Thanks

ESC skips the ROM / DSK flashed in the cartridge.
If you used EMUFILE.COM you must press "0" as Grauw said.

You can install the recovery file I posted in this thread this morning, copy its content to your SD card and then erase the ROM disk.
Also, you can modify MultiMente and edit MM/MMRET.DAT file:
Replace the configuration lines of .DSK and .FDx with:
.DSK EMUFILE $C
.FD? EMUFILE $X.FD?

Then execute from command line "CS MM" in MM folder.

Sorry guys. I downloaded only the .dat for recovery and i did not see the readme file in konamiman package.
All works, fantastic.
If you have a disk set with .fdx extension wher x is each disk number EMUFILE recognize them.

And i did jot know how to customise the Multimente ini file.
I am thinking about make 2 different association.
.Fd* for EMUFILE
.dsk for OPFXSD

and after rename the files i got depending on this.
Thanks to all

Hi Manuel,

I was wondering if there might be a way to edit the Multimente menu that loads on the MFRSCC+SD so that it would map certain keyboard keys to a Joypad/Joystick? Would something like that be possible? I was thinking Up / Down would be Keyboard Up/Down, while Left and Right could essentially be setup to change drive letters or num[1] with Left num[2] with Right, and have Button 1 be set to either SPACE or ENTER, and the same with Button 2.

I'm not sure this would benefit everyone's MSX setup, but since I tend to sit some 8 feet away from the MSX when I have it hooked to a CRT, this would be an incredibly useful option to have Joystick support for.

Oh and I did have one more question that I wanted to be sure about since I'm not an MSX expert in the least. I had another American friend from the Ys community that I hail from that just purchased/ordered his first MSX last night. He went with the Panasonic WX - MSX2+ machine that has 64K RAM internal and was thinking of ordering a MFRSCC+SD from you sometime. I have both a MFRSCC+ with 8K and a newer MFRSCC+SD with 64K. If he ordered the regular 99 Euro MFRSCC+SD with 1 slot and 64K RAM, that would allow him to now have 128K Ram in total correct? Which would be enough for most MSX2/MSX2+ games and MSX-DOS 2 right? I wanted to find that out for him so that he can best make a decision of whether to go this one for 99 Euro or bump it up to the version that has the extra 512K RAM external mapper just to be safe.

It's hard for me to tell what would and would not work since the two MSX machines that I have (Turbo R GT and Zemmix Neo) already have plenty of RAM, so it would be hard for me to detect an issue with there not being enough RAM available.

Thank you very much for your time and for your assistance in the Nextor thread as well.

@Thomas: About MultiMente, AFAIK it is not possible to control it with a joystick. It would need to be patched/hacked to work as you described.
Probably a good alternative to MultiMente is SofaRun that can be controlled with a pad/joystick.

About MegaFlashROM SCC+ cartridges. You are confusing flashROM memory (8 Mb and 64 Mb) and RAM memory.
MFR SCC+ has 8 Mb flashROM. That means it can load ROMs up to 8 Mb (1024 KB).
MFR SCC+ SD has 64 Mb (8192 KB) flashROM. Part of that memory is used for Nextor kernel, recovery, ROM disk, etc. The rest can be used to load ROMs and DSKs.
But flashROM memory can't be used as RAM. IT will not expand your computer memory.

Your friend will need a memory expansion (or MFR SCC+ SD with 512K RAM) in order to load MSX-DOS2 / Nextor.

Ah I see, I'll definitely give this SofaRun a try then. If it turns out to be an easier solution to use, what would be the best method of having the MFRSCC+SD boot into the SofaRun program (or say Symb0S?) instead of Multimente? And alternatively, how would I put Multimente back the way it was setup by default?

Yes, I am afraid that I was confused about that 64K Mb of flashROM memory versus RAM so thank you for explaining that. I will tell him that unless he wishes to use a separate external RAM mapper cart or do an internal modification to increase his RAM (which I'm pretty sure he does not want to try since he is not handy with a soldering iron) then really the best choice is for him to go with the MegaFlashRom SCC+ SD 1 Slot + 512K external RAM expansion.

Are those currently in stock at your website by any chance?

Thanks again,

-Thomas

Probably the easiest way is to copy all the contents from ROM disk (ASmile to a SD card. Then erase the ROM disk from recovery. From this point, the cartridge will boot from SD card.
Then you can copy Sofarun to the card (i.e.: to a folder named SOFARUN) and then edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT adding that folder to the path and changing MM by SOFARUN.
I.e.:

path a:\;a:\mm\;a:\bin;a:\sofarun
set prompt on
set date=dd-mm-yy
set expert on
mode 80
sofarun

Right now I'm out of stock. I'll produce more units in 5-6 weeks.

Awesome, thanks very much for explaining. And then if I wanted to put everything back the way it was, I could just run the Recovery Kernal using F4 at the Recovery Screen.

I've let my friend know about the MFRSCC+SD supply. Thanks very much for your help.

Hi.

The Game Master 2 support is a wonderful feature, and I was playing with it this morning in openMSX. However, Game Master 2 seems to only want to save game state on the floppy drive. It says "Disk Offline" when there's no floppy.

Is there a way to use the SD interface for Game Master 2 saved game state files?

Thanks.
