Carnivore 2 and RCP files

Hi all!

Recently picked up a Carnivore 2 cart and had a quick question regarding the RCP files. I understand these are a configuration/preset file designed to be used when flashing roms to the bootmenu.

Is there anyway to patch them directly to the game rom?

Reason is because I prefer to use SofaRun as a frontend to launch games and Metal Gear 2 doesn't appear to run unless it's patched in some fashion. I tried the typical slot fix ips patch and that doesn't seem to work.

Ideas?

RCP files cannot be patched to the ROM file, They are configuration data for the C2 when the game is flashed, it does not affect the actual game just the configuration of the C2 (e.g. wheter to use subslots, whether IDE is active or not stuff like that).

I think the patch at the link below can make Metal Gear 2 work on the C2.

For MG2 you are best of by applying the translation anyway

If you disable subslots in the sofarun config for this ROM, I would expect it to run.

I tried that and it doesn't seem to work. Just a solid color screen.

What MSX do you have? Try holding CTRL on first boot and then every time the machine resets before running the game.

It's a Panasonic FS-A1mkII

I tried holding down the DEL key as soon as I launched the game, but it immediately goes to a light blue colored screen and doesn't do anything else

Does it work when you load it into the FlashROM with C2MAN and RCP file?

I tried that and indeed it does work.

I was kinda hoping to use Sofarun only and not use the Carnivore 2 menu.

Maybe that's not possible?
