I setup my carnivore2 cartridge using the user guide.
The following steps were successfull:

2. Initialize the directory
3. Write the Boot Menu
4. Write the IDE BIOS
5. Write the FMPAC BIOS
6. Restart MSX

So that all seems to be working, I get to the boot menu (pink screen)
Problem is setting up the CF card (I tried CF-adapter and 4GB SD card and a couple of other CF cards).
All formatted on PC to FAT.

The user guide says:
1. Insert CF memory card into the cartridge and start the computer
2. When the boot menu appears, press the Esc button to boot using the default configuration
3. The computer boots into the MSX-BASIC

When I press Esc I don't automatically jump to basic.

I get the following screen:

“Sunrise Compatible IDE driver V 0,1,7.
Initializing: . . . . (four dots and then an error únknown error 60'”

Then the MSX jumps to basic

When i hit çall FDSIK:

Nextor disk partitioning tool
1, Sunrise IDE V0,1,7 on slot 1-1

When I hit 1 : 'Sunrise IDE on slot 1-1
"There are no suitable devices attached to the driver"

So I'm a bit in a pickle here. Can someone shed some light on this?

The card is likely to be incompatible with your Carnivore. Can you share a photo of the card?

Also, check that all pins in the slot connector are fine (not bent, pushed down or oxidized).

Those CF cards should work. Please check the pins of CF slot and see if all Altera's pins are ok. Did you assemble the cartridge yourself?

Yes, I made it myself. Not an easy task. But I know I can get it to work. I'll go over the connections of the Altera and the CF connector. Thanks for your input.

Seems I ordered the wrong CF connectors. The CF card is the wrong way round.
All is well now.

Only problem I have is that I get the error 'no more free directory entries' when I try to flash a ROM with C2MAN. Problem is that the directory entry list is empty. It's the SOFAROM1.ROM I'm trying to flash. I also don't see the Defconfig entry in the bootmenu.

If the directory is empty but reports no more free entries, try to initialize it again from c2man.

Funny, now it worked. Tried it a couple of times before but then it didn't work. Now I have the two entries in the list. Thanks a lot Smile
