You can configure as FMPAC+SCC+RAM and you get 3-in-1 cartridge without IDE. Then you can boot from any MSX disk and you will get all the benefits from 2 sound cards + extra RAM.

You mean FMPAC+SCC+PSG+RAM (the PSG is also in the cart' in newer editions, right?).

Thats truly a boot set up suitable for floppy play. Thumbs up!

PSG is enabled or disabled in the boot block only. But other devices can be enabled or disabled with configuration changes.

In older cartridges, only a firnware upgrade is needed to have the PSG sound.

Is it because missing support of this configuration setting in the c2man utility or is there anything else which blocks possibility to configure it from c2man too?

I'm very curious of how much bytes is EEPROM size and how much has been used by current configuration setting? Is there any room left?

yeah I know. I've yet to purchase this cartridge so won't need to worry. I have tried 8bits4ever's FM Pac which I really liked. Lately I've been looking at MFR and Playsonic and even considering different slot expansion such as the Modulon. But now I feel that the only thing I will need is the Carnivore2 Smile
(--insert Futurama meme--)

Too bad it just ran out of stock :/

The emulated PSG device doesn't need a subslot to run. Other emulated devices - IDE, RAM, FMPAC and SCC+MultiMapper need their own subslots. So it's better that PSG stands aside from those 4 other devices. Besides, we ran out of free bits in the device configuration register, so we have to use the small configuration EEPROM to store PSG on/off flags.

For now the best way to enable/disable PSG is to use the PSG screen in the boot block. I can of course add the functionality to enable/disable PSG from C2MAN tools, but does someone really need this when it's very easy to do this from the boot block?

No worries, this setting fits fine with boot block, as you need it maybe twice a year Big smile

I was just curious about it because i'm trying to understand how hard could it be to make the PSG port configurable. Why? There's a lot of VGMs which use PSGx3 configuration, and since now it is possible to get two - one of MFR and other either native MSX or of Carnivore, though if it were possible to tune the port, then it makes 3 PSG in system available. I even read the bootblock code a little bit yesterday, thus noticed that it uses EEPROM, hence the second question about availability of space in EEPROM. Btw, it of course will require some changes to the firmware too, so maybe it is not worth it (i'm sure not many people will reflash it for an extra PSG though). So maybe just a crazy idea....
