We used the original SCC emulation code without any modifications. And the SCCPLUS.RCP file sets the RAM banks for both address ranges, so that it would work with both Snatcher and SD-Snatcher carts. Why the chip detection is different - no idea so far. Also no idea whether the same VHDL code for SCC emulation was used in MFR or some modifications were made by Manuel to make it work as a native SCC+.

This may be a silly question, but has anyone tried to start SD-Snatcher with the Carnivore2 (With DSK or orignial/copied disks)?

I used the Carnivore2, configured as SCC+ only, with a SD Snatcher DSK on a Gotek disk drive emulator.

ok, good to hear. As far as I know SD Snatcher is the only game you need the SCC+ for. I guess the VGMplay error is VGMplay-error only, and while it may not be optimal, it won't be much of a inconvenience for the avrage user Smile

The fact that SD-Snatcher starts may just be because of the RAM. The sound output may not be correct with C2 if the implemented SCC shares the waveform for channels 4 and 5 (as in an original SCC). A true SCC+ has individual waveforms for those two channels.

Hello Alexey:
As you are preparing another update Firmwarw for Carnivore 2 I wanted to ask you if you could prepare the Carnivore 2 main menu so that besides working with the MSX computer keyboard, it can be used with the joystick (STRIG 1) in MSX. I ask you because it would be a good idea to use the menu and confirm the options with the joystick directly, the same one with which we will play these games from our menu next.
Thank you so much for everything!,

Guys, the code of the utility is already too big and I can hardly add new features without major optimizations. Adding the last major feature required relocation of some code above the #C000 address space that gets overwritten, so not all code can go there. So unfortunately I have to decline this proposal. Or adding more useful features will stop...

Good news! Now IDE in Carnivore2 works regardless of the CPU speed. The internal clock is used for CF card. This has been just verified on Panasonic MSX2+ in turbo mode and on Turbo-R ST in R800 mode. The firmware will be released after some additional testing. Also some more nice features are coming soon!

Today we have a major release for Carnivore2:

  • Added Z80/R800 mode toggle for Turbo-R machines with 'T' button
  • Added Turbo mode toggle for Panasonic MSX2+ machines with 'T' button
  • Added indication of Z80/Turbo/R800 mode to the status screen
  • The CF card's clock speed is now independent from the CPU's clock speed. So the IDE will work correctly even if the CPU speed is above normal. Also a few minor errors in the firmware were fixed
  • The selected VDP frequency and/or Turbo/R800 mode is preserved for ROMs after system restart
  • Corrections were made into the documentation regarding the PosSiz register and the Turbo/R800 modes
  • When an RCP file with the same name as ROM file is found, the C2MAN, C2MAN40 and C2RAMLDR utilities are asking whether to load the RCP data. In autoloading mode the RCP data is loaded automatically
  • The C2RAMLDR utility can now reset the computer on-demand or automatically after loading the ROM file if the /r command line option is used; the restart option has been added into the menu
  • After writing IDE or FMPAC BIOS into the cartridge there's no longer a problem with directory editing. In the past the directory was shown as corrupted because of incorrect configuration after BIOS flashing.
  • A few RCP files have been added

Congratulations, Alexey!

Does it still have the restriction for the SCC+, that disables everything else when this feature is activated? Why isn't it possible to use the SCC+ alongside everything else?
