Hello,
in my Philips VG-8235 the power supply is broken. The rare IC STK7561A is dead. I have built in a 3A (Amiga 600) switching power supply, it supplies 5V, 12V and -12V. The Philips is working again. I can no longer adjust the height of the keyboard because the components of the power supply are disturbing. I would therefore like to install a smaller switching power supply with 5V and 12V. Do I need the -12V mandatory? Need Carnivore2 -12V?
Best regards, MiC

Yes, Carnivore2 needs +12v and -12v for the amplifier.

You could contact Bas to see if he has the parts you need. If not the IC separately he may have a complete PSU.

Hi,
thanks for the answers. I give up the transformer power supply. The Amiga (600/1200) switching power supply works very well. The picture has become very clean, and the power supply stays nice and cold.
So much colder than the previous one. Wink
I am very satisfied with the solution. I do not necessarily have to adjust the keyboard. Looks more like Philips NMS-8245 now. Cool

Best regards,
MiC

Hi guys,
Is there a way to see this demo on the Philips VG-8235 with Carnivore2 ?
Unfortunately, I have the 360k drive ..

Greetings, MiC

Carnivore uses Nextor 2.1 Alpha that has DSK emulation. You need to use the emufile.com utility to emulate all 3 DSK files with the demo. Basically you need to type this at DOS prompt:

emufile disk1.dsk disk2.dsk disk3.dsk

You need to change the names of the DSK files if they are different in that demo. Then you need to reboot your MSX and the demo should start. When you need to change the disk, you just need to press a certain key combination to select the next disk. You can find more info on Konamiman's page:

Changing floppy disks is 1,2,3 .. + space, right?

But how do I turn emufile off again?
When I restart the computer, the demo will be
still loaded by the CF.
The demo is impressive but does not always have to
start with it .. Wink
sorry, I do not find a guide for emufile.com ..

To disable the emufile mode, keep pressing '0' (zero) when the CF card is being detected after exiting from the boot block menu. Then, after booting to DOS, delete the NEXT_DSK.DAT file in the root folder. Btw, on some computers you need to press '9' instead of zero.
