Hi there, I'm new to MSX and I obtained a (hopefully) fully working MSX2 HB-F1XDmk2. Obviously I had to replace a belt inside the FDD and looks like it is working now, at least the FDD part, however I have no idea if any of the 2 cartridge slots are working at all as I don't have any carts yet. Here is my question- what is the PCB board thickness of MSX cartridges?? I can't find any info of that on the web surprisingly so if any of you have some carts and any sort of caliper/micrometer I would strongly appreciate that info. Please for reply. Many thanks in advance

According to this wiki article it's 1.6 mm.

Oh goodness... I don't know how I missed it, probably because it was not text but rather in a diagram. Many thanks!

However, I kinda don't believe it... once I tried to insert a Sega Master System cartridge (only to see for myself, never turning the machine on of course) which is just 1.5mm standard thickness, it felt really hard...no idea if it should be like that or not. Can anyone confirm this and measure at least 1 real cartridge?? I don't want to risk damaging my system. Many thanks in advance

I took out my calipers to measure a cartridge and I believe 1.57 mm is correct.

If you go to a PCB manufacturer website you'll see that there are only a few thicknesses available: For MSX, SMS and most other classic cartridge systems 1.6mm is the correct thickness (there's no 1.5mm).
SMS PCBs are the same exact thickness as MSX, because it's the same connector.
If you tried to put a cased SMS PCB in an MSX you'll see that the plastics won't fit easily because the (plastic) shape is different.
