"Pet project" is a strong word? That's strange...

When used as sarcasm, it is strong. I'm sure you're not that naive.

I don't dislike the MSX-AUDIO BIOS v1.3 as I use it in my Philips Music Module, where it belongs. I just don't think it has anything to do on a Moonsound clone.

Ok, so lets agree to disagree. From my point of view the OPL1 and OPL4 are just two generations of the same family. Just like the TMS9918, V9938 and V9958. The OPL4 is not some alien chip like the SID.

BTW, this "where it belongs" is your opinion only. I was asked by many users to try to port the BIOS to many other chips, including the YM2151, YM2608 and the SCC+. And I would love to do this, but sadly I don't have that much free time. So, I'll have to keep it only in the OPL family.

Quote:

As for your claims about the MSX Datapack, you'll notice MSX-AUDIO is in the MSX2 volume and not the turvoR one.

Using that logic, the were the PSG, RS-232, MSX-Modem and MSX-JE obsoleted too?

Quote:

MSX-AUDIO as a standard was deprecated with the coming of MSX-MUSIC. Although some minor backwards compatibility was provided it was never intended to be interoperable.

Again, that's your point of view. The MSX-Datapack mentions that you can use BASIC songs from the MSX-Audio in the MSX-Music with minor modifications, and explains what commands/parameters were removed.

Quote:

You're pushing for the inclusion of your project hard, so why are you surprised about equally strong opposition?

Because I'm trying to create something. To be constructive. And the said "opposition" is just trying to destroy something without any positive results.

Quote:

Trying to hide genuine concerns by calling them "flame war" and "bashing" is rather sad. Who do you think you are?

I'm not the one hiding behind a puppet account here. If there's anyone trying to hide something it's certainly not me.

BTW, you haven't even expressed what "genuine concerns" are those, except that you just plain don't like the idea. What exactly are you so concerned about? That the DalSoRi will work with both software for OPL1, OPLL and OPL4? Not to mention the PSG (as the BIOS has a PSG emulator built-in)?

Quote:

By the way, most people do not own a tecnobytes shockwave...

And what exactly is holding you from buying one, since it already doesn't have the BIOS and the YRW801 can be easily removed just as you desire?

It's not sarcasm. I'm sorry that you feel that way, but are you sure pet project is a wrong description?

Jun soft is creating something here, not you. You're trying to legitimize your own project for inclusion in his project even though in my opinion it makes no sense to do so.

It seems like you feel your point of view is superior to another point of view. You're even feigning to disagree with the facts that you call my opinion, by confirming them in your own words.

What's keeping me from modify an existing moonsound clone is the skills. I'm sorry for being inadequate in your eyes.

I just want some clean and inexpensive hardware, without bells and whistles. Your BIOS can always be added or loaded by other means. I would like to use moonsound and msx-music and msx-audio and psg and scc together without conflicts!

I would interested in any of the options. But option 2 seems a good compromise.
Thanks for working on that.

Yes, I'm pretty sure of that. Your ad nauseum repeating of the term won't change that, sorry.

Your focus in destroying the idea is revealing more and more about your true self, as you're forgetting to check your facts. First, you tried falacies about things that were just in your mind and not in the official docs.

Then you're just ignoring the OP of this thread and trying to twist the facts to fit your own version of the story. Go read the OP of this tread again. The idea of the cartridge having the BIOS was already there, and was part of the original project. What I'm trying to do is to help JunSoft to find the best way to include the BIOS in his cartridge, if he decides to really do so.

Sorry, the psychopath reflexive argument won't work here anymore. You tried it many times with your previous puppets. It's just the projection of your own self cast upon others. You already revealed who you really are.

Quote:

I'm sorry for being inadequate in your eyes.

Again, this is all in your mind. The only one who said that was yourself. If you feel that inadequate, you should try to seek some professional help.

And from this thread I'm pretty sure that your are capable of explaining what you want/don't want. So what is holding you from sending an e-mail asking Tecnobytes to make your cartridge without the YRW801 ROM? As you known, Tecnobytes also offers a service to fix and/or customize hardware. But again, your focus is so straight: It's not a cartridge without the BIOS that you want, otherwise you would already have gone after that. You want that no OPL4 cartridge with a BIOS is ever built for anyone because it goes against your dogmas.

Quote:

Again, you're ignoring that JunSoft said that he will put a switch so the BIOS can be disabled. This is as "expensive" as modifying an SCC cartridge to add a switch do disable the ROM. So, even your "conflict argument" is baseless. But you again have ignored (or twisted?) this fact because you're focused on just imposing your own ideas and own version of the reality:

A reality where things that were not written in the official MSX documentation are continuously stated to be there, things that exist on the MSX official documentation are ignored because they contradict your dogmas, and things that are still written in this thread are also conveniently ignored so you can still try to convince others that only the version that you created in your own mind is true.

Regarding BIOS for DalSoRi v2, will it/could it bring from MSX turboR BIOS PCMPLY(0186H/MAIN) for all its 24 PCM channels? Will/could BIOS for DalSoRi v2 manage a system timer for PCM timing?
I agree that (BI)OS would offer resources in a fashionable and optimized manner, and bare-metal I/O ports or mapped registers programming indeed is hacker programming in the first place. Mind that we all want to be top-notch hackers and sometimes bare-metal is the only pratical way. Evil

Let's refrain from the "guess who's behind this account" game - I guess both your viewpoints are clear now, and the main concern here is to help JunSoft make a decision, right? Smile

Having said that, sorry for the off-topic, but:
