I have some problems reading tape data from my SVI-767 cassette recorder when recorded on another tape deck. I've come to the conclusion it must be the tape head that needs adjustment. To do this, I need either a head alignment program, or a MSX command that turns on the cassette audio track. For the old Spectravideo 318/328 there was a command SOUND ON that did this, but I haven't found a MSX equivalent.

I'd appreciate any tips on this matter.

The MOTOR command will turn on the motor. Is that what you mean?

Unfortunately MSX does not have SOUND ON command and even on SVI-3x8 it works only if you have SVI-903 cassette recorder. Support for it was removed from later SVI-904 model.

Best you can do on MSX is pretty much:

1DEFINTZ:DIMZ(7):FORR=0TO7:READZ(R):NEXT:DEFUSR=VARPTR(Z(0)):MOTORON:PRINTUSR(0):DATA16115,1550,-11513,-9312,-30814,-28808,-21549,-2280

... this will redirect digitally all that MSX can hear to speaker. With this program you can hear when the result is ok, but you can't hear analog problems such as hiss from the tape. (so it is not quite a same thing)

Thank you, the program works.
