Best thing is to connect a JP PC keyboard to it, I guess. Then you only have to relabel a few.

Fair point, and not something I considered for some reason. Will look into it for sure.

Got my keyboard interface from Spain.

Tried hooking in a working US PS/2 keyboard, and although the keyboard interface disables the onboard keyboard (which I assume is intentional), none of the keys on the US keyboard work. The cartridge slot definitely is OK, since it boots games just fine. The keyboard is NOT one of those USB->PS/2 adapter things.

Before I contact Leonardo Padial, I want to make sure it's not user-error. Am I just missing something that I have to do at boot, etc.?

I've got a JP PS/2 keyboard on order, so if all I need to do is wait for that, I absolutely can.

I'm pleased to report that with another US PS/2 keyboard, I'm having no issues (besides the aforementioned wacky key mappings, since this is a US keyboard on a JP unit).

I'll post back when I get the JP keyboard with results. That said, there's no discernible reason the first keyboard I tried didn't work vs. this one that does, but in any case I'm happy.

Yes, for some reason (unknown to me) not all PS/2 keyboards will work. Having a bunch of them for testing purposes is a luxury these days.
Then there's the "Nemesis (or Gradius) test". If I remember correctly that was about being able to fly to the left top by holdinf up and left and being able to shoot while doing so. If that does not work, you might have issues in other games as well (any shooter, I guess). This will again not be the interface's fault, but the keyboard's.

With my US keyboard, at least, I can hold UP+LEFT and still press space (and have a space occur), so I think I'm good on that front.

I have noticed that if I'm typing at full speed, it misses LOTS of letters (but it doesn't seem to be bad during a game).
