I have a homemade F18A in a VG8020.

I'm very interested in how to program it through basic if it's possible.

I got plenty videos made with my Sanno MSX it have Firmware 1.6 installed.

I've recently recived mine. I'm still deciding where I'm going to mount it... Smile
Here you can find the official resources page. And here an AtariAge 's F18A related thread with tons of info.
Maybe not BASIC but I believe that using assembler, the F18A could be programmed without problems. Sadly the example sources come from the TMS9900 CPU, hard to read if you're only used to the Z80 assembler...
