Hi I'm new to this forum! Got myself a (what appeared to be) good condition Panasonic FS-A1WX from Yahoo Auctions, along with a MegaFlashRom cart. For the most part everything works fine but the floppy drive doesn't appear to be working and the its previous owner had left an old corroded battery in it. First thing I did was to remove any visible corrosion from the battery with rubbing alcohol (not sure that's the best method?).
My main question is what to do with the drive, I'd like to get it working again and I suspect its in need of a new drive-belt. Any recommendations of a web-shop (preferably in Europe) that sells drive-belts for this model?

Thanks! Smile

Hi and welcome here.
The specs of the belt are mentioned in the wiki
As for the battery. Luckily they're put far away from important parts and will only damage its own compartment. Googling it got me a few solutions to get rid of the corrosion. As I never ran into this I can't tell you what works best. At least your computer isn't harmed and powering the RTC is not that mandatory to fully enjoy your computer.

Thanks for the quick answer! That's somewhat of a relief.
When I try to search for a belt I only manage to find a eBay seller in Brazil which would take a good while to get here(also its 17euro for one belt), so it would be nice to know if there's a better place to get one?

I don't really know about his stock, but when I ask him he almost always has the part I look for: Repair-Bas.

Bought a belt from him that arrived today, to my amazement everything went smoothly and I can finally play JESUS which is the only floppy game I own! Hooray!
(Also thanks!)
