I found a HBD-50 with a broken case in my collection. (DHL made some stress test with that drive years ago.) Need to check if it is still running, let me know if your interessted.

The poor thing! Even the underside looks bend >_< Will try installing a new drive in my current one and see what happens. If the drive does still work, please let me know, though. I'm quite poor at the moment, but it'd be good to get a working FDD together.

Thanks Repair-Bas, I will not rescue this drive. I got two or three HBD's in good condition, so this one will be damned to be a spare part victim.

So good news and bad news:

The good news is that I've installed a modern PC drive into the enclosure and it works (after a small amount of modification).

The bad news is that now I know that the problem is with the FDD itself and not the enclosure.

Hamlet: any news if the drive in your broken enclosure is working?

Well, it's gone.
Like a Commodore 1551, it broke into a thousand pieces during transport. These things were just too heavy. DHL has a tough job, but the responsibility lies with the sender. I have had to learn some of this. It doesn't make anybody happy. The seller claims to have shipped well packed, but if there is no external damage to the package, DHL denies all responsibility.
I do have some spare parts as mentioned.
But not a working inlet.
