I was trying to play some FM files and I got an error syntax at line 10. Tried. I will try to update it later, it may fix that issue when installing the new file. But, any recommendation is welcome.

Maybe your flash chip has some issues. Can you try flashing FM-PAC BIOS again?

I tried it, it didn’t work.

I tried to flash it with the new firmware version 2.5 but it faulted at 12% and stops there.

Okay I think your flash chip is dying. I’ve heard this is a common problem (basically product quality is bad). Replacing the chip and reflashing the BIOS’s should get you back in the game. Maybe start with checking the chip’s soldering, ask Alexey as he is the authority on C2 here Wink

Looks like the FM-PAC ROM is not present.

To my understanding, this has been fixed.

The issue was fixed. I used different rom image on my MSX2+ and that solved the problem. But prior to that I had problem in updating the firmware of Carnivore, it keeps giving me fault after loading 12%. So, I went ahead and erased the flash and uploaded factory enhanced files to the Altera chip using the following way:

- Connected to the JTAG port on the carnivore2 cartridge.
- Choose the connection mode as JTAG
- Clicked Auoto detect
- Right clicked on the chip that showed up on the chain and I added the EPCS4 flash to the chain.
- Check Erase for the EPCS4, and that by default will check configure of the main Altera chip to Factory Enhanced settings/firmware
- Click Start and wait until it is 100% successful.

After that, I just followed the steps that are on the carnivore2 guide to upload the firmware.

One thing that is still unresolved is I used to be able to play VGM files prior to having the problem with the carnivore. Now, I am not able to. I will have to look into this and see
