Dear All,
this little newbie needs some words of wisdom... My wavy seems to ignore just the "down" input from the joystick 1 port Sad .
I use a joypad made using the info found on " How to get joypad very cheap for MSX" wiki page. The joypad is fully tested and It works perfectly on my NMS 8280. So I wonder if there's something I can do to check for the possibility of an easy fix.
Could you please help?

regards

Stef

It's probably a fissured solder in the joystick connector of the PCB. Usually you just have to add some new tin there and it will work again.

I had a similar problem. A joystick that worked well on my MSX1 had direction who responded badly on my Turbo R. The cause was that the Turbo R pins of joystick port are finer. I inserted a small aluminium foil into the corresponding hole connector with a paper clip. The joystick works well since.

@gdx

In these cases, usually it's enough to spray a good contact cleaner in the female connector of the joystick. Good contact cleaners are meant for electronic contacts and leave no residue.

They're also excellent to clean both the slot connector of the MSX and the cartridge EDGE contacts. On the cartridge EDGE contacts it helps to rub the contacts with a cotton swab after applying the contact cleaner. They'll be as good as new.
