I have no idea how this is supposed to work. There's scant information online.

I guess I'm supposed to have some sort of boot ROM that's not included with the software disc?

I'm lost.

Your best bet these days is flashing PLD pack 3.5 (or the soon to be released 3.6) and create your SD card with the OCM-BIOS.DAT file as first file. You can get this file from the OCM-SDBIOS pack v2.1 (request the private link from kDL, website is currently showing a work in progress logo).

From that pack pick a bios from the sdbios-n34 folder, these contain the Nextor kernel. The folders beneath indicate the MSX logo type and ultimate file extension indicate the keyboard layout (.bsl for US/UK, .yen for JP, .wst not sure). You'll then need the NEXTOR-DSK.ZIP and TOOLS.ZIP files from Konamiman put these on the SD as well (after extraction). You then have the 2.04 release of Nextor on SD. Then download the Nextor-2.1-alpha2.zip from the same page and overwrite the NEXTOR.SYS and the 3 .COM files on your SD with the new versions.

You can then play disk images with emufile.com tool.

So for the moment I can't do anything until the kDL site comes back up, right? I downloaded the files from Konamiman.

How is the first file determined? Is this alphabetically?

Thank you for the help!

No it has to be the first file in the FAT or file allocation table. There is an sdcreate script in the EXTRA pack. That will format the SD in FAT16, clean the FAT (because Windows will create a System Volume Information folder that will interfere with OCM-BIOS.DAT being the first file). To use the script you place the above mentioned files in the OS and UTILS directories and OCM-BIOS.DAT goes in the SDBIOS folder. It is also a good idea to add all DOS2 utils and help files in there. You can get them from KdL as well (request private link from his site)

Okay, I managed to get the files. the kDL site is still showing as under progress for Chrome, but it's available on Firefox.

So, I need to load MSX-DOS 2 to be able to flash the 1chipMSX, right?

How do I load MSX-DOS 2? I can't find any documentation files on this.

Thank you!

So, I have to get into MSX-DOS 2 in order to format an SD card to be able to load MSX-DOS 2?

What am I missing here?

No you use the sdcreate script in the extra pack to create the sd with msx-dos2

I was able to run the SDCREATE script but my 1chipMSX still boots to MSX-BASIC
