How do you lock the cartridge in your MSX while it is powered on and unlock it while it is powered off? I need this protection to avoid risk damaging my device.

ducktape?
There is a hole to put an anti-theft chain/cable but nothing to prevent the removal of the cartridge.
We are supposed to be able to insert or remove cartridges from MSX1s turned on when there is a micro-switch in the slot but this was removed from the standard later. The message "Do not remove a cartridge with MSX switched on" appeared instead.
You could implement something like this:

When you power up your MSX let it lock the cartridge (or prevent inserting a cartridge)
When your MSX is powered down it will release the cartridge.
I personally have no idea what the impact is on a MSX concerning power drain or magnetic fields.
It's just a suggestion that might work.
buy a vg8235 or a nms8245 and the accessory for slot 2 which allows the cartridge to be blocked with a pin through the hole provided

luppie's solution is perfect!! PERFECT! PERFECT!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! YES! YES! YES! YES! THAT IS IT!! AAAAAAAAAAHH!! I also love Jipe's method too!! Where can I find vg8235 or nms8245? Does it work for Sanyo Wavy J23, Jipe?
I have both VG8235 as well as NMS8245 for sale
Note that Philips systems are PAL systems, foody.
sdsnatcher73, will this work on my MSX2? My Sanyo Wavy J23? If so, I want to buy it.
No the PHC-23J has no physical or electrical protection against cartridge removal. The Philips VG8235 and NMS8245 have this (manual) protection ability on the second slot.
I will use Jipe's method. I will have a professional technician who knows his stuff to implement this. My MSX2 is like having the heart beating outside the body...not very good. Risk of frying the baby is 100%.
