Thats only if the program is faulty, if programmed right the eprom is not used.
But the eprom is a 27128 and kan be put parralel on any eprom inside a msx exept for pins 1, 20, 22 and 27.
Pen 1 and 27 are connected to 5 volt and pen 20 to slot select(pen 4 from expensionslot) and 22 is sc1 (4000-3fff = pen 1 from expansion slot).
See also the scamatic from the gr8bit website.

No, you really need the ROM to detect the MSX-MUSIC in the way the standard prescribes.

The "orginal" version of this internal MSX-MUSIC extension does not have ROM so it must be somewhere else. See the pictures OeiOeiVogeltje provided us:

Is it best practice put it into the same PCB or left it out? The Philips 8250/8255/8280 has a bug in the sound mixer. Is it good idea put fix for that into the same PCB?

Not all true there is a Rom piggybacked on the original roms.
See this picture from my 8280 modification made by MSX club Gouda.

Here are all my pictures i have from my 8280 NMS 8280 msx 2

You are right roadfighter. Then I think it is best if PCB has that ROM.

Piggyback it on a rom is easier, or you print will get a little big and will have a lot of wire.
If you put it on a original rom in your msx you keep the wires to a minimum.
So you can use the print also for a nms 8235 or 8235.
