Oh, nice to see there is a proper solution for the mixer thingie on these Philips NMS'es!
I, too would be interested on the amp. luppie: sent you some email ;-).
Though, there is a lot of space inside these computers, I guess one could also use a breadboard for the amp - especially now that I have removed the disk drives

Sorry for the late reply (real life catching up on me)
I've send you a reply on your mail.
Still have some opamps.
Yesterday I've installed Luppie's opamp in my NMS8280 and I can clearly state now:
- this fantastic piece of hardware solves the problem perfectly. I didn't even have to adjust sound level with the trimmer, most probably it was already pre-set to a level ideal for my MSX
- MSXs are built in a very robust and reliable way. Even if I normally assemble my home PCs, it took a little to understand how to disassemble it correctly. Furthermore this was the first time with soldering on such small contact pins, so I was pretty sure I burned the PCB while trying to learn how to do that.
I can reccomend everybody to do this mod if you experience the no-audio problem.
Thanks again Luppie
P.S. inside NMS 8280 there is not so much space to place the opamp itself, I just found a free spot below the floppies on the lower mainboard. I fixed it with a drop of silicone and a layer of sponge (yes the one you use to wash your dishes) to avoid direct contact between the PCBs.
glad to hear you like it
Yay, and it's also very cheap. 10 Euros is a bargain for the big problem it solves.
Very nice mixer, and small.
Do you have the layout on your site Luppie ?
@luppie:
you are aware that I updated the original design so that it now supports the audio inputs of two external cartridges. In this case. FMpak and SCC+?
EDIT: The design change is so minimal it can be done on the allready exsisting modules. I have not decouled the second input so it is only useable with FMPAK and moonsound like cartridges.
Daemos (or anyone else): Can you elaborate on the new modification for two sound inputs?
I'm not having problems with it as it is (actually I haven't tested two sound modules at once ever before), but I've opened my NMS8255 to intall more RAM, I though I might update the OPAMP too since I needed to remove the cart slot assembly in any case ;-)
Thanks for your trouble!
Send me an email I will send you the updated schematics if I can find them.
