I just build and installed my MegaSCSI with a NEC harddrive. The way i see it the MegaSCSI is working okay. The problems start when I'm trying to load the larger games like Firebird, Nemesis,... The games start loading but near the end the MSX just resets. This happens with the games loaded from the floppy drive as well as those loaded from the hard drive. I believe the problem has the do with the fact that DOS2 takes up some memory, but i'm using the MegaSCSI on a 8250 with 256 kb memory mapper. If the lack of memory is the only problem could the solution be bumping the internal memory mapper to 512 kb?

Which tool are you using to load the ROM? Are you using a ROM device of some kind ? Or are you just launching "cracked" versions of the ROM with a BASIC loader?

Yes, the versions that require a BASIC loader.

Those cracked versions were designed for MSX-DOS 1, and do not care about MSX-DOS 2 memory management, so they can't work this way.

You can give SofaROM a try to launch ROM files (just copy the ROM file to your HD and type "SROM VKILLER.ROM" for example), but you'll have disk accesses during the game (more or less depending on the game).

Louthrax: map.com then, right? If you really want to run these cracked versions under DOS2... the only way to get out is to reset anyway.
