I was testing some MSX computers on my Philips colour monitor (don't know model, see picture below).
Suddenly the power light went out and the monitor is no longer working?
Must be old age :-)
Might this be fixable? Maybe replace a fuse?
This type of monitor:
Anyway thank you for any suggestions.
That's bad. Those monitors are the best in picture quality. I had something like this also a time ago. I had the luck to have 3 more spares.. You could ask repair-bas if this is a known problem.. but i think it would be hard to solve..
Could be anything of course, but as the power-led doesn't light up anymore, I suspect the powersupply / transformer. How comfortable are you opening it up? You should of course check for a blown fuse (although if its blown, there is probably a reason to that) and measure what voltages are coming from the transformer.
before check the power button
I had an issue like that in the past. It was a soldering point that "cracked". I had to check all soldering points on the PCB inside of the monitor (you can see a small circle "crack" around the solder point, but you need good eyes or a magnifying glass). Just resoldering that point fixed the issue for me.
Someone told me that's because the solder went dry (might be caused by the temperature changes too when you switch on/off the monitor...).
