I have a Wozblaster clone (FM-Blaster by reprofactory). It has undergone a significant sound improvement. Like this, the Wozblaster is top notch.

@Meits, do you have schematics of this sound mod? I have a homebrew Wozblaster and it looks exactly the same as yours so i think i could do this improvement too, and i'm very interested

I asked the guy who did mine to read this question. I have no electro technical background, so the only thing I could do is make as good as possible photographs which could help anyone. It's a bit of a sadistic mod, as far as I can see, since the legs of the resistors are bent in hard to handle ways.

Let's see if there will be an answer from the mod inventor, or say so if you can live with high res photograps.

Hello,

Here is the modified schematic. Around IC8A and IC8D you can see my modifications, adding 4 resistors to configure an amplification ratio for the opamp. Output volume is much better!

Using through hole resistors is possible, but a little fiddly since you have to lift two legs of the opamp..

Good luck!

Thanks so much, Omega! I'm gonna give it a try :)

Very nice, perhaps it might be useful to update the layout/gerber file with this schematic, as a "v1.1". That way anyone looking to make new ones wouldn't have to do the mod.

Yes.

Actually it's based on the v1.2 board so it would be v1.3 then Wink
Available time and lack of Eagle skills prevent me from doing that right now, but if anyone else wants to have a go, go right ahead Smile

@Meits Thanks for helping with the Wozblaster mod info, i'm kindly asking to take a photo of mod from the top, i have ordered the resistors already. It would be great to also have the photos when soldering Smile

I am the owner of the sources for second generation of the WozBlaster (after Gustavo). I can make changes, but I have two questions -

  1. mod up to date from original is only 4 resistors? Anything else? Anyone can make an overview of changes/improvements for me please?
  2. I do not see question answered - has WB gone open source? I was making the device for Eric, but I know many people make it. I think Eric has sources on his website, but I can not find the location right now.

Check the schematics for rail cuts, because I am not sure if they were made, or not.
