Thank you guys for the expressed interest.

I'm working towards the conclusion of the FPGA design.

FEATURE DISCUSSION (Your feedback is needed):

What do you think about removing the PS/2 support and adding the MIDI optocoupler and transistor directly?
Then you will have MIDI IN & OUT. I can also add MIDI THRU.

What do you think of emulating YM2413 register set and instead of generating the music locally, converting it into the MIDI messages? Then you can drive your General MIDI synth out of MSX.
Or still you would prefer having the close to exact MSX MUSIC emulation locally?

IMHO, you can benefit by having PS/2 if you are using Procyon in the stand-alone mode. Also PS/2 is outfashioned, rather I would add a USB HOST with a low cost uC.

USB is much preferred over PS/2 indeed. Good PS/2 keyboards are hard to come by and for my Zemmix Neo I spent quite a sum of money on an active USB->PS/2 converter.

MIDI I really like although probably most people won't care about it so much.

Would be nice to have a midi that supports the same ports as a Philips Music module and the turbo-r GT/ mu-pack.

No need, we have a very nice piece of hardware for that , the Midi-Pac from WORP.

Yes that would be the best option.

Yes a Good USB controler would be nice for keyboard and mouse support, and maybe a usb gamecontroler ?

If I were designing this (leaving aside cost/space considerations), I'd definitely make sure the MSX MUSIC experience was first-class. I'd also aim for providing USB keyboard support over PS/2. It really is hard to find a good new PS/2 keyboard these days; selection is severely limited vs. USB.

I'm also interested for one Procyon. Kit-version would do fine.

Sounds like a good idea.

I think YM2413 is much used in games, and using an external synth would be impractical. It's a funky idea, though. Can't we have both? Tongue

PS/2 port is very retro! However, USB is MUCH more practical these days. And if we can indeed get a MIDI port instead of PS/2, sure!

If this would work for an MSX turbo R, I would be interested as well to be added to a preorder list. Thanks!
