Hello people,
I'm not about to disturb anyone, I would like to gently ask, does DalSoRi OPL4 by Jun Soft play with a MSX1 machine or does DalSoRi OPL4 by Jun Soft operate with MXS2/MSX2+/MSXturbo machines?
Thank You,
lo zaffo

Technically it should work with MSX1, but I think you need at least MSX2 as the software for it requires it. Anyway, MSX2 is not hard to get Wink

When using the opl4 (the DalSoRi has 1024KB ram) you really need some disk drive, actually you need a CF,HDD or SD to really be able to use all the DalSori has to over. That also requires that your msx alteast has 128KB main ram. Yes it would be possible to replay some music on msx1, but very limitied. Most important there is no editor available that works in a msx1 screen mode.

Thank mr. Retrofan and mr. msd for Your kind replies!

If I keep growing knowledge and competence in MSX, maybe in a few years span I will like to buy a DalSoRi OPL4 cartridge.
I found a starting point for learning how OPL4 YMF278 can be used with a plain MSX1 in

It will work on MSX1 for sure, just existing software for it mostly is made for MSX2 that’s all.

Maybe the MBFM / MBWAVE replayer works on MSX1, and I think there’s a DOS command-line replayer as well which might also work on MSX1. That way you could at least play a lot of songs.
